"I am reaching through time to touch you"

A Tale for the Time Being by Ruth Ozeki

I just finished reading A Tale for the Time Being (2013) by American-Canadian writer and Zen Buddhist priest Ruth Ozeki. The book came to me via BuzzFeed's 53 Books That Will Definitely Make You Cry listicle, with Gwen Moriarty's short description of it immediately piquing my interest. The list also contains The Perks of Being a Wallflower, The Book Thief, This Is How You Lose Her, We The Animals, Eleanor & Park, Of Mice And Men, and The Fault in Our Stars, which I all thoroughly enjoyed. I couldn't wait to get started!

2015-2016 NBA All-Blue Collar Team

NBA blue collar players
Hard work pays off.

The NBA is a league of stars. Without the mesmerizing skills of Stephen Curry, the all-world talent of LeBron James or the alien athleticism of Russell Westbrook, it wouldn't be half as fun to watch teams go at it. Star players make highlight plays. They are selected All-Stars. They rake in the big cash and are marketed globally.

The Sound of Europe

The Sound of Europe

Year after year the world celebrates Eurovision, the week-long, bigger-than-life TV song competition. This year's edition in Sweden already marked the 60th time the contest took place. To celebrate the occasion, Swedish mobile provider Tele2 teamed up with digital agency Emakina to develop 'The Sound of Europe', the first-ever crowdsourced song. Download the app to add your voice to the biggest online choir ever! The online karaoke tool allows users to seamlessly add their vocals to the original song by Swedish producer Pontus Winnberg.

The Revenant

The Revenant

A while ago I checked out The Revenant (2015) with my better half Cuteness Everdeen Sarah. We both love Leo and the blockbusters he churns out in rapid succession, which is why we couldn't miss out on the movie that finally earned him an Oscar. The epic historical survival Western was directed, co-produced and co-written by Alejandro G. Iñárritu, best known for 21 Grams with Sean Penn (2005), Biutiful with Javier Bardem (2010) and Birdman with Michael Keaton (2014). The Revenant is based on Michael Punke's book of the same name.
