Paper Towns is coming!

Paper Towns movie with Cara Delevingne
When sexy middle-aged father figure John Green announced last September that British supermodel/perpetual weirdo Cara Delevingne would be playing Margo Roth Spiegelman in the upcoming Paper Towns adaptation, I damn near lost it.

Cara Delevingne is Margo Roth Spiegelman

The rest of the interweb did too, by the way.

It almost seems unfair to other moviemakers how this is somewhat of a perfect storm.

Green, on his part, is a New York Time bestselling author who effectively employs YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat and Tumblr to connect with his loyal NerdFighter fan base. His fifth book, The Fault in Our Stars, has sold more than nine million copies worldwide and was turned into a Hollywood hit starring Divergent/Insurgent stars Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort. The man can do no wrong.

Then there's Delevingne. The 22-year-old Burberry, H&M, Victoria's Secret and Topshop darling is everyone's favorite supermodel, with a huge social media following that goes crazy over every update. Casting Cara as Margo was a wonderful move. Playing the quirky, adventurous female lead is right up her alley, and the star power she brings will do wonders for Green's small-budget adaptation. TFiOS, as you might remember, was made with $12 million.

Let's talk buzz

Apart from Paper Town's perfect storm situation, there's also quite a bit of smart marketing going on.

First there was this Instagram post by John Green:

Paper Towns map

It mapped all the material that would drop before the debut of the first trailer. The first stop was on, the second one on Nat Wolff's Twitter account, the third on Cara Delevingne's Instagram, and the final one on the PaperTownsMovie Snapchat account.

The trailer, which contained the soulful song Search Party by Sam Bruno, perfectly carried over into the Paper Towns Search Party campaign. The campaign, a collaboration between 20th Century Fox, Atlantic Records and Shazam, encourages fans to Shazam the audio of Search Party whenever they hear it to receive exclusive content.

Each week leading into the movie's opening fans will be encouraged to Shazam new clues.

The second trailer, released June 2, spends time with Quentin's two sidekicks, giving us a glimpse of the actual search party participants.

I can't wait!
