#LikeAGirl rewrites the rules

Somewhere along the way, doing something "like a girl" became a bad thing, resulting in a drop in confidence around puberty for girls all over the world.

The Fault in Our Stars

The Fault in Our Stars by Josh Boone
Okay? Okay.
Thank your first and foremost, Tumblr, for going all fangirl on The Fault in Our Stars and Looking For Alaska. If it wasn't for your constant bombardment of quotes and religious adoration for sexy middle-aged father figure John Green, Green's beautiful books might have never appeared on my radar.

The Other Woman

The Other Woman
Girl power!
Due to work (Me) and exams (Sarah), making it to the 5 PM premiere of John Green's The Fault in Our Stars proved a Herculean effort, so we decided to postpone the tear fest for another week and instead see The Other Woman by The Notebook director Nick Cassavetes. I don't recall having seen the trailer, but the ladies did have a funny moment at the latest MTV Movie Awards and somehow how I was vaguely intrigued at the prospect of them tackling the "revenge comedy" format.

Boston Celtics offseason wishlist: making a splash

Boston Celtics 2014 offseason moves
Don't drop the ball, Danny
The Boston Celtics might just tread water this offseason, adding non-crippling contracts to stay afloat in 2014-2015 in order to set themselves up for a splashy 2015 offseason.

Boston Celtics offseason wishlist: treading water

Boston Celtics 2014 offseason
Standing ground
Just like last year, when Danny Ainge could either blow it up or give it one more go, the Boston Celtics have two options. They could use their young players, expirings and draft picks to make a splash, or they could add some pieces, "stink" for one more year, and then tap into their war chest of cap space to go after whoever they want next July.

#PotterParty

Maximum fruitio!
I don't know if my parents would be proud or completely, utterly and entirely disappointed that they raised such a dork.

"Everyone is responsible for marketing"

The Conversation Company by Steven Van Belleghem
#conversationcompany
I just finished reading The Conversation Company (2012) by marketing savant Steven Van Belleghem. The book's predecessor, The Conversation Manager, had pleasantly surprised me last year, offering some great ideas and cases, and so when I stumbled upon its "sequel" in the Queromedia library, it only seemed right to check it out. Especially since Van Belleghem's spirited keynote about heartketing at the Google Partners event in March showed that he is indeed very passionate about leveraging online and social media to engage customers.
