Thanks for the memories

Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett traded to Brooklyn Nets

Shocked. Disgusted. Excited.

I can't decide which emotion applies more to the trade that sent Hall of Famers Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett to Brooklyn last night.

Other dominoes to fall after Doc trade

Celtics coach Doc Rivers traded to Los Angeles Clippers

After the departure of 3-point king Ray Allen to the Miami Heat last year, a move that ultimately paid off for "Benedict" Allen, all that remained from the 2007-2008 championship team was coach Doc Rivers, Hall of Famers Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce, and All-Star point guard Rajon Rondo. Doc was locked in through 2015-2016. Garnett and Rondo through 2014-2015, and Pierce's contract was set to expire after the 2013-2014 season.

"And so we all matter - maybe less than a lot, but always more than none"

An Abundance Of Katherines by John Green

Last night I finished reading Vlogbrother slash Nerdfighter John Green's 2006 book An Abundance of Katherines. The Fault In Our Stars, Looking For Alaska and Paper Towns are some of my all-time favorites, so obviously I had high expectations for Katherines.

The Bachelor Hunter strikes again

Plantijn Hogeschool en Karel de Grote Hogeschool

Yesterday I received my grades for my bachelor after bachelor program at KdG and I'm happy to announce that I passed all my exams. I am not technically graduated since I still have a three-month internship at Global Image to complete, but at least I never have to take an exam again!

Jay-Z teams up with Samsung for new album

In a music industry that is becoming consumed by the digital revolution, with traditional record companies struggling to come up with viable business models, rap mogul Jay-Z might just have found the holy grail of profitmaking.

Syncing the sexes

The Get In Sync ad for Durex' new Performax Intense orginally aired in the UK on February 1. The ad shows two records playing Let's Get It On by Marvin Gaye at different speeds. By speeding up the "female" record and slowing down the "male" record, the song is eventually brought together.

Yeezus H. Christ

Yeezus by Kanye West

It's hard to imagine that just 10 years ago Kanye West was almost strictly a producer, crafting unforgettable soul beats for big brother Jay-Z, Talib Kweli, Scarface and Beanie Sigel, among others. His sample-heavy debut album The College Dropout (2004) propelled Mr. West into recording artist stardom. Scholastic follow-ups Late Registration (2005) and Graduation (2007) further cemented his legacy as a conceptual genius. The fourth installment, Good Ass Job, never came to fruition, as West chose a different creative direction when his mother Donda West passed away late in 2007. The minimalistic 808's & Heartbreak (2008), which heavily featured auto-tune and elektro-pop beats, dealt with love and heartache. Oppositely, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (2010) excelled in its grandiosity.

"There is nothing here but dead neon and cement and brick"

Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance by Robert Pirsig

Coincidentally, Robert Pirsig's 1974 book Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance appeared on my radar twice in the last three months, so I decided to give it a try. According to The Guardian, ZMM is the biggest-selling philosophy book ever.

Grant Hill & Jason Kidd hang up their sneakers

Grand Hill and Jason Kidd retire from the NBA

An NBA era is coming to an end. Allen Iverson has not played since 2010. Shaquille O'Neal and Yao Ming retired after the 2010-2011 season. Now add Jason Kidd and Grant Hill to the list.

Boston Celtics offseason wishlist: Rebuild edition

DeAndre Jordan and Al Jefferson to the Boston Celtics?

As I wrote in my previous offseason post, chances are that Danny Ainge keeps the core together for another charge to the mountaintop. With two Hall Of Famers, Rondo, The Jet, Jeff Green, Super Bass, our bulldogs and the possible addition of some skilled role players, who could blame Danny for giving it another go?
